NETPark Net creates the ideal environment for science, engineering and technology organisations to work collaboratively, develop new ideas and commercialise cutting edge technologies.  NETPark Net users gain access to international business networks, online communication tools and invitations to exclusive events.

 

We actively encourage collaborative working and give community users the opportunity to connect with other likeminded businesses within the North East of England.

 

NETPark Net users can use the community to access national and international business networks such as the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA), the Institute of Physics (IOP) and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) as well as building closer working relationships with the region's five universities including access to Durham University library.

 

NETPark Net provides a range of features and services to promote collaboration and inter trading which include:

 

NETComms, a comprehensive communications system for all of your business needs. 

 

  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services - NETPark Net offers users access to the latest VoIP technology which allows you to connect with your customers and suppliers more easily.  Having access to a broadband driven telephone service means that your virtual office is not tied to a geographical location and you are able to make or receive cost effective business calls anywhere in the world.

 

  • Communication is key to collaboration and NETPark Net offers a comprehensive Instant messaging service to encourage collaborative working - share documents and experiences with other users.  This can allow inter-trading and partnership building with the other private sector ventures or collaboration with universities for research and development projects.

 

  • E-mail address and calendar management system - NETPark Net provides you with a personalised e-mail address using the domain name @uknetpark.net and a full e-mail management system with calendar function for diary management.  Access your e-mail or diary from any secure internet connection in the world - anytime, anywhere.

  

  • Business Directory - this gives your business a platform to market the range of services or products your company can offer other users of NETPark Net as well as visitors to the community.  The business directory also displays relevant contact information for your organisation as well as additional information on your company - such as the types of industry sectors to which your product or service is targeted.

 

  • Opportunities and Tenders Directory - NETPark Net gives users unlimited to access to daily tenders and opportunities collated from a range of regional, national and international sources.  This service will allow your business to develop national or international sales opportunities.  The tenders and opportunities directory also lets you advertise your organisation's licensing, tenders or other opportunities to companies and organisations within the NETPark Net community.  The My Publisher feature allows you to advertise opportunities at your organisation to the community and visitors to the NETPark Net website, giving you a great platform by which to attract skilled workers to your organisation.

 

  • Facilities Listings - NETPark facilities listing offers companies from around the region the chance to source hi technology equipment and laboratory facilities from the North East's leading universities.  This service is designed to promote innovative ideas through development of services or projects using the latest technology.  This could include short term access to a nano milling facility, access to specialist laboratory space and equipment or more specific technology hunting from the facilities located in the region. 

 

  • NETCycle is a service offered to users of NETPark Net to allow organisations to donate unwanted resources to other organisations which are part of the NETPark Net community.  Donations may include items such as simple laboratory equipment, specialist work wear or spare capacity manufacturing and laboratory space.  The NETCycle application also allows users to make specific requests for equipment or resources from other users of the community.  This will ensure that users of NETPark Net will play an important role in the development of research and science within County Durham as well as creating a sustainable environment in which to live and work.

 

  • Discussion areas - Users will have the ability to network via a "virtual water cooler," a tool to promote best practise and share the experiences of other organisations, including topics such as problem-solving, experience exchange, signposting to topics of interest to North East companies.

 

  • Blogs - NETPark Net will offer users the ability to manage an online business diary blog.  This will provide your company with a fantastic marketing platform for informing other businesses of your achievements, events and new products or services.  Blogs can also be used as a tool to promote good practice and share experiences with in the NETPark Net community.

 

  • Wiki (coming soon) - NETPark Net offers a collaborative space containing pages that can be freely written or edited by users of the community.  This allows users to share information without the restriction of opening documents in different formats and the ability to grab information from the Wiki and share with other users.

 

  • Group (coming soon) - This function of NETPark Net allows the community to create specialist groups that may relate to a specific topic, research project or area of interest.  Group users can put forward ideas on their subjects for other users to discuss and generate ideas or share relevant information.

 

  • Video Conference (coming soon) - NETPark Net offers users access to a reliable video conference facility allowing your business to talk in real-time with clients and associates anywhere in the world and in multiple locations.  Video conferencing is also much more efficient as issues can be discussed as they happen, rather than later.  Meetings can be scheduled more rapidly as there is no requirement to coordinate multiple travel schedules.  Businesses find that they save money as well as time with video conferencing.
