Businesses will soon be able to learn about and test first hand innovative environmental technologies, thanks to a new hi-tech facility in Coventry.
A £5 million technology hub, the facility will allow businesses to test environmental products and services, and learn of the benefits they could bring to their organisations. They can even test their own new products in a real environment.
Businesses can also access specialist support on the use of new technologies within organisations.
Based at the new Faculty of Engineering and Computing building at Coventry University, businesses will be able to use the facilities from Spring 2012.
The Sustainable Building Futures project is supported by just over £2.5 million from the European Regional Development Fund, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government, and matched by Coventry University.
Paul Fairburn, Director of Business Development at Coventry University, said: "We must encourage and help businesses to take advantage of the opportunities that new technology brings.
"The best way to do this is through demonstrating the benefits and creating an environment suitable to test ideas. This new facility will allow us to do just that".
The facilities will also be used to test the environmental performance of the Faculty building itself. Results will be used to help design and develop new products and systems which companies in the construction and environmental technologies sector can learn from.
