Solar Flair 09 - The National Photovoltaics Conference

Date of Event: 18th - 19th November 2009

 

Description

Delegates were able to find out how they could:

- benefit from the cutting edge new technologies

- become part of the supply chain

- access funding programmes and finance

- avoid commercialisation pitfalls

- benefit from best practice in Open Innovation and Voice of the Customer

 

Speakers included representatives of Quantasol, Pure Insight, Photonics & Plastic Electronics KTN, Durham University, Sanyo, Romag and PETEC, the Printable Electronics Technology Centre, Northumbria University, NaREC and Think-M.

 

Delegates were able to network with fellow photovoltaics professionals, government representatives, investors, and senior industry practitioners.

July 2009-SEMINAR: Watching the skies - £multi-million contract opportunities in telescope programmes

Description

Extremely Large Telescopes (ELT) are considered worldwide as one of the highest priorities in ground-based astronomy. Professor Colin Cunningham of the UK Astronomy Technology Centre took the audience through the programme and Professor Ray Sharples of the Physics Department at Durham University (and Director of the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation at the NETPark Research Institute) outlined the technology spin offs from telescope programmes.

NETPark Net, in conjunction with the Electronics KTN, invites you to an expert panel debate on this latest hot technology topic, its impact on existing technologies and its commercial opportunities.

 

To give us an overview of leading edge research, we were delighted to welcome Professor Jon Cooper, Wolfson Chair in Bioengineering in the Department of Electronics at the University of Glasgow, and Professor Peter Fielden, Professor of Analytical Science at Manchester University to the North East for this debate. They joined Professor Zulf Ali, Director of the Technology Futures Institute at Teesside University who chaired the debate and Dale Athey, CEO of Orla Protein Technologies gave us an insight into the commercial opportunities of microdiagnostics in our changing world.
