CEMMNT (Loughborough, England), the Centre of Excellence in Metrology for Micro and Nano Technologies, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Newbatt as its Business Development Director. Paul has more than 20 years technical sales management experience, having worked for, amongst others, Phoenix Scientific Industries, Rheometric Scientific and Polymer Laboratories, which has brought him in to contact with many of CEMMNT?s partners and target customers.
?He has the broad business development, sales and marketing experience we feel is so important in this role,? said Elwood Vogt, CEO of CEMMNT. ?He will act as the key client interface for access to our network of over 250 multi-disciplinary MNT specialists, which is the UK?s largest, offering organisations relevant applications knowledge and experience, along with cutting edge technology, to accelerate their innovation and commercialisation.?
The CEMMNT project, which has been funded by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and includes the National Physical Laboratory, QinetiQ, Ametek Taylor Hobson, BAE Systems, Coventor and Smith & Nephew Technical Services Group among its partners, provides services ranging from one-off rapid turnaround measurements to in-depth bespoke R&D projects that solve measurement, characterisation and systems engineering challenges for organisations developing products or processes involving micro and nano technologies.
Through its partners, CEMMNT measures and characterises materials from the molecular scale to final devices using over 50 different techniques. Microscopy and spectroscopy approaches can be combined to determine both the dimensional structure and local elemental or chemical composition. Thermal, electrical, optical, structural and mechanical properties can all be determined at the micro or nano scale.
