DEPARTMENT FOR BUSINESS, ENTERPRISE AND REGULATORY REFORM News Release (2008) issued by COI News Distribution Service. 27 November 2008
The Business Secretary Peter Mandelson and Economics and Business Minister Ian Pearson welcomed the opportunity to meet today with leaders from the automotive industry, including key players from the supply chain, construction equipment and motor retail sectors.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Government to listen directly to how the industry has been affected by the current economic situation. The Government will study the details of key issues they have identified.
The Government is continuing to address the issue of access to finance to boost the economy and encourage consumer confidence. It will also, as made clear in the PBR last Monday, call strongly for a European Investment Bank funding scheme and for that scheme to have a swift application and decision process.
