Newcastle Science City
Gordon Brown designated Newcastle as one of 6 UK Science Cities to assist the development of stronger and more widespread engagement between businesses and the science base.
Newcastle Science City is a hub for world-class innovation, developing and reinforcing the region's world-class strengths in science research, specifically those which can be applied commercially: Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Ageing and Health, Molecular Engineering, and Energy and Environment.
Science Central will be a city centre complex providing an environment for a rapid acceleration in the commercialisation of scientific and technological research. This will form part of a system that will include inter-related research activities, science education and engaging the public in a greater awareness of the benefits science can bring.
NETPark is a Strategic Partner for Newcastle Science City and the Director of Science City sits on the NETPark Advisory Group.
