Durham University
Durham University is a world-class university in two locations: the city of Durham and its Queen's Campus in Stockton.
Research at Durham University is among the best in the UK. Its research excellence extends across a broad range of subjects, with six of its Departments - Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, English, Geography, History and Law - achieving the maximum (5*) grade in the last national research assessment exercise. The 2005 THES science citation table ranked Durham as the top UK institution - and 18th in the world - for the worldwide impact of its science research.
The University has many world-class Research Institutes including The Photonics Materials Institute, the Centre for Renewable Energy and Centre for Advanced Instrumentation (based at NETPark).
Named the Sunday Times University of the Year 2005/6, 85% of Durham's staff have been assessed as undertaking research work of international significance.
